The UK Census 2011. I’m objecting to this question, because there was no mention of anything other than binary sex.
Some people are actually biologically neither male nor female. Which box do they tick?
Thanks for taking this stand for trans* identified people!
I’ve just published an article at PracticalAndrogyny.com giving my thoughts on this matter and details of the answers given to me by the Office of National statistics before the 2001 and 2011 UK censuses:

I hope you don’t mind that I used a cropped version of your photo in the blog post (linking back to your Tumblr).
Awesome article, and thanks for linking back. :) I’m reblogging in case anyone following me fancies reading the article, too.
People interested in this issue may also want to read about my gender-neutral title proposal.
Going to reblog this because it’s awesome. The more awareness that is spread, the less invisible those outside the gender binary will become. I’m emailing my MP right away. The gender-neutral title idea is absolutely wonderful, and I might adopt that myself. :D

Also, spam the pages with LGBTQ* friendly videos and stuff. You rock!
Kinda wanna see this, but will miss the initial showing. Hopefully, it’ll be posted online later…
Wonder if any of my followers would be interested?
The article is a relentless,
transphobiccissexist and disrespectful attack against Chaz Bono that reflect’s Fox News’ support for Dr. Ablow’s stream of heteronormative and offensive articles. Coupled with his earlier (removed) post about Bono and his tirade against J. Crew’s Jenna Lyons, Fox News has repeatedly demonstrated that they have no problem publishing and backing Ablow’s hateful words as reflective of their news organization.Fox News has previously removed an article Ablow wrote about Bono, following criticism from blogs and other news outlets. The current article, called “Don’t Let Your Kids Watch Chaz Bono on Dancing With The Stars,” promotes the idea that Chaz Bono is dangerous for children, likens sexual reassignment surgery to willingly amputating both of your arms or changing your species, discounts Bono’s transition as someone who “thinks she is a man,” and calls supporting transgender surgery a “tragic celebration.”
Sign our petition and tell Fox News that their continual support for Dr. Ablow - Fox News’ resident psychiatrist, is unacceptable.
TransphobiaCissexism should be and cannot be supported by a national news network. If you don’t sign it, please send it around.
Signal boost! Edited ableist language.
A really wonderful article about the trans male community, misogyny, gender essentialism, and why a lot of us trans* folks are not so quick to back up Chaz Bono.
Becoming Chaz leaves viewers with the impression that hormone therapy has turned Bono into a completely different person. That person happens to be a sandwich-eating, woman-hating stereotype of everything that we associate with testosterone, which doesn’t bode well for other transmen who work to maintain their feminist ideals.

GSM stands for Gender & Sexuality Minority
I prefer it to LGBT because GSM is more inclusive
Basically any gender or sexuality that isn’t considered heteronormative could go under GSM.As well as LGBT the following genders/sexualities could go under GSM.
This is not a limit just all i can think of so far. Any others let me know.
- Genderqueer
- Genderfuck
- Genderless
- Agender
- Bigender
- Third gender
- Pangender
- Androgynous
- Asexual
- Demisexual
- Polysexual
- Polyamorous
- Pomosexual
- Pansexual
The name Spirit Day comes from the purple stripe of the Rainbow Flag, defined as ‘representing “spirit”.
This is a day to speak up against bullying, especially that aimed at LGBT people (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender - as well as other gender and sexuality minorities), as well as to remember those of whom bullying cost the lives.
Wear something purple! It could be a purple ribbon, a purple tie, a purple hat, a purple shirt, anything. And tell your friends!
“In early October 2010, Canadian teenager Brittany McMillan promulgated the observance of a new commemoration called Spirit Day, the first observance of which took place on October 20, 2010, in which people wear the color purple to show support for LGBT young people who are victims of bullying. The observance was inaugurated in response to a rash of widely-publicized bullying-related suicides of gay school students in 2010.”
